Saint-Tropez
About 38 nautical miles west of Cannes — the Vieux Port, Pampelonne and the passage that is a highlight itself.
The legend across the gulf
Saint-Tropez lies about 38 nautical miles west of Cannes, across the open water of the Gulf — far enough to be a proper passage, close enough for a long day or an overnight. The old fishing village turned summer legend still centres on its Vieux Port, where yachts moor stern-to beneath the pastel houses and the cafés of the quay.
Beyond the port lies Pampelonne beach and its famous clubs, the reason many charters point west. The run from Cannes is a highlight in itself, and arriving by sea — anchoring off Pampelonne or taking a berth in the old port — is the way Saint-Tropez is meant to be seen. Berths are scarce in summer and book early.
Weigh the crossing against the day you want: a fast motor yacht makes it a comfortable return outing, while a sailing yacht or catamaran turns the passage itself into the point. Either way, Pampelonne at anchor is the classic finish.
