Cap d'Antibes

Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Billionaires' Bay and the calmest sheltered coves within reach of Cannes.

The legendary cape

The Cap d'Antibes is the green, villa-crowned headland between Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, home to the storied Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Its sheltered eastern coves — including the famous Billionaires' Bay — offer some of the calmest, clearest anchorages near Cannes, protected from the prevailing wind.

For a yacht it is a perfect lunch-and-swim stop: drop anchor off the pines, watch the great villas through the trees, and enjoy water that stays glassy when other anchorages chop up. A few minutes from Antibes and a short run from the Bay of Cannes, it is a Riviera classic for good reason.

The cape's eastern coves hold their calm when the mistral stirs the open sea, which is why captains know it as a dependable lunch anchorage. From Cannes it is a short, scenic run past Golfe-Juan — an easy half-day that feels far more exclusive than the distance suggests.

Frequently asked questions

Why charter a yacht around the Cap d'Antibes?

The Cap d'Antibes, minutes east of Cannes, is one of the most useful and beautiful pieces of coast for a day on the water. Its coves stay calm and glassy when the open sea is lively, sheltered behind the cape, so it is often the answer on a day when a westerly mistral rules out a longer crossing. The water off La Garoupe is famously clear over sand, ideal for swimming, and Port Vauban in Antibes is one of the great superyacht harbours of the Mediterranean, worth seeing from the water. A day around the cape can mix a swim in a quiet cove, a look at the grand villas along the shore and lunch at anchor, all without going far. It pairs naturally with the Îles de Lérins for a relaxed full day. Our skippers read the wind and pick the calmest side of the cape, so the day is comfortable whatever the forecast.
